Jer. 18, 18-20;
Sal 30;
Mt 20, 17-28
What Jeremiah tells of the harassment and machinations that had to suffer is what a way or another were all the prophets and is the image and kind of what would become the passion of Jesus.
Just the text today begins with the announcement proclaimed that when they go up to Jerusalem, Jesus makes his passion. At twelve in a special way they are explained but then they left with their ambitions and mutual suspicion. "We're going to Jerusalem and the Son of Man is betrayed to the chief priests and lawyers, and condemned to death and deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked him, scourged and crucified, and the third day rise again.
ad that makes us Jesus to us as well in this particular our ascent to Jerusalem, on this climb to celebrate the Passover for what we are preparing over Lent. Is ad His Passover and our Easter, which was the presentation of Jesus for our salvation and what must be the path of a follower of Jesus when we say we have faith in Him
With a look at some critical mode is always somewhat disconcerting that, immediately after the announcement that Jesus makes appear the ambitions of the Zebedee brothers to occupy the top positions, as well as the fears that were created in the rest of the disciples. But it comes in handy for so we better clarifies the message of Jesus to us.
response to the request of the mother of James and John, the question arises of Jesus, which should perhaps pause to reflect a little question because it makes us too. 'Do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink? " The answer is ready, but maybe, I repeat, we should pause and reflect.
Jesus is talking about his delivery and his passion. Jesus is speaking of suffering and death on the cross. Jesus is speaking of a love that makes himself completely, without limitation, all the way because no one loves you more the friend than one who is able to give his life for him And that's what Jesus does.
Because the chief priests and scribes go against Jesus and being delivered into the hands of the Gentiles and sentenced him to death. But it is Jesus who gives, who gives a step forward. No one takes away his life but the free delivery. So is his love. That is the passion of love that He lives. This is the cup has to drink.
He asks the disciples and asks us . 'Are you able to drink the cup that I drink? " Will we be able to live such a love? Is that the style of our surrender? is the cup that we drink every day when we follow Jesus. It is love that we live our lives. It is the sense we have to give our suffering. It is the engine, so to speak, of everything we do every day. Is the cross of our love is the cross of our suffering and limitations is the cross of mutual acceptance and love with a love like Jesus. We would probably do great things and great, but maybe the Lord does not ask us but these little things every day, but we know them extremely well because all of them and wrapped in love, love floods.
When the rest of the disciples was put there to whisper their fears, Jesus will speak clearly about what to do. You want to occupy top positions? Want to be on the right or left of the Master? You have to know be the last and the slave of all. We must learn to love until the end, until the total delivery. 'That would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first must be your slave. "
is what Jesus did . 'Like the Son of Man came not to be served, but to give His life a ransom for many ". Is the cup that we also have to be ready to drink. Will we?
